Project #: M3-08
Lead Agency: Wayne Co. Env. Health Dept.

Project Description:A computerized database of septic systems was developed. Each septic system in a study area was evaluated. Project/Report Summary :This 1998 report includes the field surveys of homes with on-site sewage disposal systems (OSDS) in communities of Canton Township, Dearborn Heights and Garden City, Livonia, Northville Township, Plymouth City, Plymouth Township, Redford Township and Westland for the entire year in Middle 3 Subwatershed and Tonquish Creek Basin areas. Field surveys were conducted to determine failing and potential failing OSDS. Staff conducted field surveys in Canton Township, Dearborn Heights, Garden City, Livonia, Plymouth Township, Redford Township and Westland. Sites were surveyed from lists furnished by local officials showing homes believed not to be served by municipal sewers. In the seven surveyed communities, several homeowners showed interest in hooking up to municipal sewer systems once they become available.
